New Path - Shin

New Path - Shin is written on white shikishi with a mix of black and metallic-purple sumi ink, for a modern look.

The choice of color juxtaposes the writing style used. Sousho is, in fact an old style rich of tradition and history.

With Shin, I experimented also with space and framing rules. I decided to break the boundaries of the frame, and bend the rules of Japanese calligraphy.
I was happy I did.

I find New Path - Shin to be true to its real meaning ("shin" means "new") and I consider it to be one of my most successful attempts to espouse modern and ancient, while maintaining the tradition of shodo.
